Brighton beat Manchester City 1-0 on Saturday, handing the Premier League leaders a second successive defeat and leaving them level on points with Arsenal after nine matches. Yasin Ayari scored the only goal in the 11th minute, capitalising on a poor clearance by Matheus Nunes.
City had lost 2-1 away to Aston Villa the previous week. The latest defeat came against Brighton, who had also faced City in the League Cup on Wednesday: that match finished 2-2 before City won on penalties.
City and Arsenal both have 21 points. Arsenal visit Liverpool on Sunday, while Brighton have 19 points. Brighton goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen started, and midfielder Mats Wieffer came on after an hour.
