Jordan Burton was found guilty of murder at the Old Bailey on Tuesday, 29 September, following the death of Daniel Allright more than 15 years after Burton assaulted him. The assault in Lewisham, south-east London, in September 2006 left Allright with a serious head injury. Burton was 14 at the time and Allright was 16. [1]
The court heard that Allright had his first seizure six months after the attack. He was prescribed medication, but his epilepsy worsened in the months before he died at home in March 2022, aged 31. A post-mortem examination identified post-traumatic epilepsy as the cause of death. [1]
Burton pleaded guilty to violent disorder and unlawful wounding in 2008. At his murder trial, he denied wrongdoing and told jurors he had been pressured into admitting the assault. He is due to be sentenced on Wednesday, 30 September. [1]
