The Amsterdam District Court sentenced 24-year-old William P. to 10 years in prison for murdering his 65-year-old father in Amsterdam-Zuidoost on 29 March 2024. His conviction also covers a petrol station robbery. [1]
P. admitted stabbing his father but said he had acted on impulse. The court rejected that account, finding that he had planned the killing. Police arrested P. in early June 2024. His DNA was found on a paving stone used to break the rear door of his father’s home. [1]
Prosecutors had sought a 16-year prison term. The court imposed a shorter sentence because it gave more weight to P.’s personal circumstances. [1]
