Alexander Isak scored in Liverpool’s 2-0 win over Brighton, taking his Premier League tally to six this season after an injury-hit debut campaign.

Liverpool beat Brighton 2-0 on Sunday, with Alexander Isak scoring again as the striker’s early-season form begins to justify the British-record £125m fee Liverpool paid Newcastle for him in August 2025.
The goal was Isak’s sixth in the Premier League this season, and he has scored more than half of Liverpool’s 11 league goals. Only Erling Haaland, with nine, has scored more in the division. Isak is averaging 0.95 goals per 90 minutes.
His first season at Anfield was disrupted by a slow start and a broken leg in December 2025. He finished the campaign with four goals in 22 appearances. Liverpool viewed him as a long-term signing and held back judgement until he was fully fit, according to BBC Sport.
Against Brighton, Isak’s finish gave Liverpool breathing space after Bradley Barcola won possession and helped create the chance. Brighton had 64% of the ball and finished with a higher expected-goals figure, but Liverpool held on for a fourth consecutive win under Andoni Iraola and moved up to fourth in the league.
Isak said the first half showed the intensity Liverpool wanted. Iraola praised his threat when the team can get him into good positions and supply crosses. Liverpool face Arsenal next in the league.
