Police are investigating after fireworks broke two windows at a Dutch town hall on an evening when councillors discussed asylum accommodation.

A crowd had gathered outside the town hall while Rhenen’s municipal council discussed accommodation for asylum seekers. Most people had left by around 10pm, police said, although a smaller group remained. Officers arrested a 25-year-old man from Veenendaal for disturbing public order and public intoxication. [1]
After police left, fireworks broke two town hall windows at around 11.15pm. Riot police were then called in. The people responsible for the damage were not caught, and police are investigating. [1]
