Melissa Barrera says she would consider returning to *Scream* if the franchise left Spyglass, but would not work with the current rights holder even if it apologised.

Barrera played Samantha Carpenter in *Scream* (2022) and *Scream VI* (2023). Spyglass dismissed her in November 2023 after she posted on social media amid the Israel–Hamas conflict. [1]
In a JustWatch appearance reported by TheWrap and Bloody Disgusting on 26 September, Barrera said she had loved making the films. She blamed much of the hostility she had faced since her dismissal on how Spyglass’s leadership had labelled her, and said an apology would not persuade her to work with the company again. She would consider returning if the franchise passed to people she believed would better honour Wes Craven’s legacy. [1] [2]
At the time of Barrera’s dismissal, a Spyglass spokesperson said the company had “zero tolerance for antisemitism or the incitement of hate”, including what it called false references to genocide or ethnic cleansing. TheWrap said a Spyglass representative had not immediately responded to its request for comment on Barrera’s latest remarks. [1]
