Alon, Oren and Tal Alexander have each been sentenced to 30 years in prison after being convicted of federal sex offences, including conspiracy to commit sex trafficking, in a case involving women and girls who prosecutors said were drugged and sexually assaulted.
US District Judge Valerie E. Caproni handed down the sentences in New York on Tuesday. The brothers were convicted on 9 March after a six-week trial, according to the US attorney’s office for the Southern District of New York.
The office said the brothers used their wealth and social connections to arrange trips and events where women were sexually assaulted. Its account of the case said the offences spanned at least 2008 to 2021 and involved repeated drugging and rape.
At the sentencing hearing, women described the impact of the assaults, the Associated Press reported. Prosecutors had sought life sentences; the judge imposed 30 years on each brother.
The brothers denied the allegations. AP reported that Oren Alexander said they had never broken the law and denied drugging or raping anyone. Tal Alexander also denied drugging or raping anyone.
