An eight-point penalty has been waived, but a separate 19-point deduction still threatens Leicestershire’s Division One place.

Leicestershire have regained eight County Championship points after an immediate penalty was waived in a pitch-regulations case arising from their August win over Glamorgan. Their Division One total rises from 111 to 119, but the 19 points they earned in that match — 16 for the win and three bonus points — remain deducted as the club plans an appeal. [1]
The Cricket Discipline Panel left in place a further eight-point penalty suspended for a year and a £5,000 fine. It said the Cricket Regulator’s documents for the original hearing had omitted a relevant playing condition. The panel considered eight points the appropriate deduction, but said it could not alter the application of that condition to the 19 points. [1]
The regulator said the amended sanction did not change the finding that Leicestershire had breached pitch regulations. Club chief executive Emma White said Leicestershire still intended to appeal the charge and the points deduction; the latest hearing was not itself an appeal. [1]
With the 19-point deduction still in place, Leicestershire are 17 points behind Essex. They will be relegated if their appeal fails. [1]
