Donald Trump has cancelled in-person campaign events in Kansas and Iowa this weekend, with the Republican Party saying he will instead join rallies in several states by telephone. The change comes days before the midterm elections, in which Republicans are defending narrow majorities in both chambers of Congress.
The party said Republicans were well placed in Kansas and Iowa. Trump has held 25 campaign events across 19 states since 1 October, according to a report by ANP, AFP and Reuters carried by Nieuws.nl. He was still expected to campaign in Florida on Friday.
A Trump-affiliated campaign organisation is also arranging telephone rallies with the president in at least 19 states before election day, the report said.
Asked on Thursday whether he was tired of travelling, Trump responded: “You’re sick for asking that question. I feel perfect.”
