A man known as Ivan has shared videos he says show surveillance for Kyiv, but his claimed role in attacks inside Russia remains unverified.
A Russian man featured in a BBC World Service documentary has shared videos of what he says was surveillance work for Ukraine inside Russia. The BBC calls him Ivan and says he disclosed too little detail for it to verify the activities he describes. [1]
Ivan also claims to have played a role in Ukrainian drone attacks on strategic bombers and munitions factories in Russia. The BBC’s account does not link his footage to an identified attack, leaving his claimed contribution unverified. [1]
NDR, which says it co-produced the documentary with BBC Eye, reports that Ivan sent videos to Polish journalist Marcin Mamon during two years of contact. It also says it cannot conclusively verify all the operations described by the men interviewed for the film. Whether Ivan’s information helped any particular strike remains an open question. [2]
