A 32-year-old man has been detained after a fatal shooting in Amsterdam. Police say the circumstances remain under investigation.

The shooting happened on Amstelveenseweg in Amsterdam’s Oud-Zuid district overnight from Friday to Saturday. The victim was a 34-year-old man from Amsterdam. An arrest team detained the 32-year-old suspect on Jan Pieter Heijestraat in Oud-West, Dutch news agency ANP reported. [1]
Police said the suspect can currently have contact only with his lawyer. Officers believe the victim appears to have been specifically targeted, but have not established the circumstances of the shooting. [1]
