Belgian police say 21 suspects were arrested in Belgium and France in an investigation into drug smuggling through Brussels Airport.

Nineteen suspects were arrested in Belgium on Wednesday, 30 September, and two in France, Belgian police said. Europol supported the Belgian police in the investigation, which centres on suspected drug smuggling through Brussels Airport at Zaventem. [1]
ANP reported that members of the suspected network flew to Zaventem from Africa and North and South America with drugs in their checked luggage. They allegedly left without collecting their cases, while others used cheap flight bookings to gain access to the airport and retrieve the luggage. Intercepted suitcases contained cannabis and cocaine, among other drugs. [1]
Two other suspects had been arrested earlier in the Netherlands. Belgian police said the suspected organisation had travelled between the Netherlands, Belgium and France. [1]
