El Al said it had cancelled its planned Friday, 2 October, repatriation flights after Israeli authorities told it landing approval for Israeli airlines in Dubai had been withdrawn. The airline had planned two flights from Dubai to Tel Aviv. [4] [5] [7]
The position of other planned services is less clear. Israir said Dubai airport had approved its repatriation flight, but it was waiting for further clearances before opening ticket sales. Arkia had also been named among the airlines planning flights to bring Israelis home. [5] [7]
The plans followed flydubai’s suspension of flights to and from Israel after a cockpit incident on a Dubai–Tel Aviv flight on 30 September. Flydubai said crew secured the aircraft and diverted it safely to Saudi Arabia. A Saudi Interior Ministry official said preliminary inquiries indicated that the co-pilot attacked the captain, injuring both; all 174 passengers continued their journey on a replacement aircraft later that day.
