Six members of RÚV’s nine-person board want the Icelandic broadcaster to sit out Eurovision 2027 unless Israel is barred.

Six of the nine board members of Icelandic public broadcaster RÚV have urged its director-general to tell the European Broadcasting Union that RÚV will not take part in Eurovision 2027 unless Israel is barred, Nieuws.nl reports. Board member Diljá Ámundadóttir Zoëga posted minutes of the discussion on social media, the outlet says, citing RÚV’s news division. The board members’ request is not a final decision on Iceland’s participation. [1]
Iceland boycotted the previous contest alongside the Netherlands, Spain, Ireland and Slovenia, Nieuws.nl reports. It says Ireland has indicated that it intends to continue its boycott. [1]
In the Netherlands, broadcaster AVROTROS also favoured continuing its boycott, but the NPO decided last week to send a Dutch entry, Nieuws.nl reported. [1]
