Kenya has confirmed a third Ebola infection, involving a 65-year-old woman who is a close relative of two earlier cases, the country’s health ministry said. She is receiving treatment after testing positive, according to an account published by Nieuws.nl [1].
The woman entered quarantine on 6 October. After developing symptoms, she was moved to isolation and tested positive. The ministry said she was being treated to improve her chances of recovery.
The cases are linked to an outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The first case was a Kenyan man who contracted the virus there and died on 5 October, after travelling by road to Uganda and then flying to Nairobi. A male relative, who was also in quarantine, tested positive earlier this week; his condition was reported as stable [1].
