Top seed Carlos Alcaraz reached the final of the Tokyo ATP tournament by beating fellow Spaniard Jaume Munar 5-7, 6-3, 6-1, according to an ANP report carried by Nieuws.nl. Alcaraz led by a break in the first set but then lost his serve twice. He broke Munar, ranked world No 49 in the report, three times in the second set before racing to a 5-0 lead in the third and converting his first match point. [1]
The report said defending champion Alcaraz would face the winner of the other semi-final, between Jiří Lehečka of the Czech Republic and Monaco’s Valentin Vacherot. It did not give the result of that match. [1]
Carlos Alcaraz won the Japan Open in Tokyo on Tuesday, beating Jiří Lehečka 7-6 (4), 6-4 in the final. It was his first ATP tournament victory since February, according to ANP, which reports that he had struggled with a wrist injury this season. [2]
Alcaraz lost his opening service game but broke back in the sixth, converting his third break point in a long game. [2]
He also recovered from a deficit in the first-set tie-break. In the second set, one break was enough to secure the title. [2]
