A majority in the Dutch lower house backs changes to how people report sexual violence, including a proposed online-intake trial.

The call was put forward by VVD MP Bente Becker, signed by D66 and JA21, and supported by the CDA, PRO, SP and BBB, among others, ANP reported. MPs want the cabinet to speak with victims about how the reporting process could be improved. [1]
Becker said too many victims encounter bureaucracy or arbitrary treatment, or have to recount their experience repeatedly when making a report or filing a complaint. The VVD plan calls for at least a trial of a standard online intake. Becker said this could help both victims and police officers, and improve the chances of prosecuting and convicting perpetrators. [1]
The online intake remains a proposed trial, not a service already in operation. The timing of any government response is unclear.
