Uefa president Aleksander Ceferin and Concacaf president Victor Montagliani have proposed a one-off payment of at least $10m to each of Fifa’s 211 member associations during the 2027–30 commercial cycle. They have also called for an independent review of Fifa’s finances. [2]
The two leaders put the total at approximately $2.1bn. They said the payment should come from Fifa’s reserves and be additional to funding already approved through the Fifa Forward Programme. [2]
Ceferin and Montagliani want the Fifa Council to consider their proposal at its meeting scheduled for 15 October. [2]
In a letter to Fifa’s six continental confederations, Infantino said he would support “the greatest level of additional funding that can responsibly be delivered”, BBC Sport reported. He said he would not prejudge the amount. [3]
His response follows a request from Uefa and Concacaf for Fifa to pay $10m (£7.5m) from its reserves to each of its 211 member associations. BBC Sport estimates Fifa’s cash reserves at £4.4bn. [3]
The Fifa Council is due to consider the $10m-per-member proposal on 15 October. No payment amount has been agreed. [3]
