Jan Smit’s management has apologised after an incident involving the singer’s chauffeur and a Shownieuws reporter at the Mega Piraten Festijn, while saying there was no intent to cause harm.
Reporter Thom Goderie said he and his cameraman had to jump aside when the chauffeur suddenly accelerated as they stood near the car. “I was really shocked by it. I think this was completely disproportionate,” he said in a Shownieuws report, as quoted by Nieuws.nl.
The chauffeur contacted Goderie about an hour later and apologised, but gave a different account, saying the reporter and cameraman had jumped in front of the car. Smit’s management issued its apology on Sunday and said the incident was not deliberate.
