Cyprus has named singer George Perris as its entrant for the 2027 Eurovision Song Contest, becoming the first country to announce its representative for next year’s competition.
Cypriot broadcaster CyBC announced on Wednesday that Perris, 43, will represent the country in Burgas, Bulgaria. The song he will perform has not yet been chosen. Songs can soon be submitted, and the entry will be selected during a televised programme, Nieuws.nl reported.
Cyprus has often been among the first countries to reveal its Eurovision act. It made its debut in 1981 and achieved its best result in 2018, when Eleni Foureira finished second with “Fuego”. This year, Antigoni placed 19th with “Jalla”, according to Nieuws.nl.
