Lavreysen says the planned Olympic velodrome feels small, though work on the venue is expected before the 2028 Games.

Five-time Olympic champion Harrie Lavreysen says the track intended for the Los Angeles 2028 Games left him unimpressed after a visit in summer 2026. Speaking at a press event in Apeldoorn, he said he and others had spent a week exploring the venue. It felt small and compact compared with the Omnisport velodrome, he said, and he found it hard to imagine the Olympics taking place there. [1]
The Carson Velodrome is due to be renovated over the next two years, with more space needed for spectators, according to an ANP report published by Nieuws.nl. [1]
Dutch national coach Hugo Haak expects Olympic decoration to help create an atmosphere for the Games, but thinks the building will lack the allure of venues in Tokyo or Paris. [1]
