Jessica Rothe says a proposed third *Happy Death Day* film would jump forward to show her character, Tree, at a later stage of life. The story would explore whether things have turned out as Tree had hoped. [1]
Nieuws.nl reports that Rothe told *The Hollywood Reporter* she had met director Christopher Landon in the spring and that a story for a third film now exists. Rothe said the original idea remains its basis, though it has been developed differently. [1]
She hopes filming could begin fairly soon if circumstances allow, but said the story would still work if that takes longer. Her comments set out a possible direction for the film, not a filming date. [1]
Rothe played Tree in the first two films, released in 2017 and 2019. In them, the student is caught in a time loop and must work out who wants to kill her. [1]
