The UN spokesperson said more than three-quarters of Honduras had experienced severe shortages of rain and prolonged dry spells. Crops were failing, while food insecurity and water shortages were rising. [1]
More than 700,000 people are estimated to need assistance. The appeal aims to reach more than half a million of those most affected with food, water, sanitation and hygiene assistance, as well as protection services, including support for women and children. [1]
About 32 humanitarian organisations, including UN agencies, non-governmental groups and local partners, are supporting the response alongside national and local authorities, the UN spokesperson said. [1]
