Riders at November’s European cyclocross championships in Zeddam will face a widened staircase and a 60-metre bridge.

The organisers say the nearly 3km lap will include a 100-step staircase and a 60-metre bicycle bridge. Former world champion Erwin Vervecken designed the route and has widened the staircase so riders can pass one another. It featured in earlier Zeddam races but was left out of the 2006 world championships because the passage was too narrow. [1]
The organisers expect 8,000 spectators over the weekend of 7–8 November. [1]
Zeddam hosted the cyclocross world championships in 2006, when Marianne Vos won her first world title and Vervecken won his second. [1]
