Dutch boyband B-Brave have released their first new single in nearly a decade and will play six reunion shows at Amsterdam’s AFAS Live next May, with most dates already sold out, the group’s Kaj van der Voort says. [1]
The band split in 2017, but announced their return in May. Their new track, “Girls Girls Girls”, was released on Friday. Van der Voort told the ANP news agency the reunion felt “like old times”, while bandmate Samuel Lauren said the members had good chemistry.
B-Brave had their biggest hit in 2016 with “One Night Stand”, featuring Sevn Alias. Van der Voort said the band had broken up because its members wanted to focus on their individual development. Some stayed in touch, and conversations about the past eventually led to the idea of a musical reunion.
Lauren said the new music was not fundamentally different, though it carried a different personal meaning now that the members were adults. Van der Voort said he felt some nerves about releasing new music after such a long break, alongside the positive response to the comeback announcement.
Four of the original five members are taking part: Van der Voort, Lauren, Cassius Verbond and Jai Wowor. Van der Voort said he could not explain why Dioni Jurado-Gomez was absent, adding that he would have preferred the reunion to include everyone who had started out together.
The group has not said whether it will pursue further projects after the AFAS Live shows, saying it would decide on each project as it went.
