The former England captain has signed for Adelaide Strikers after helping Durham win an unbeaten Division Two title.

Stokes played in all 10 of Durham’s One-Day Cup matches as the club reached the semi-finals, and in four of its final six Championship games. Across seven Championship appearances, he took 25 wickets at an average of 20.36. Durham won the Division Two title unbeaten, finishing 47 points clear. [1]
The former England captain left international cricket during a Test decider against New Zealand. He will be without an England and Wales Cricket Board central contract for the first time since 2014. [1]
Ryan Campbell, Durham’s new director of cricket, told BBC Sport before his appointment was announced that he thought Stokes would continue playing for the club for at least the next couple of years. [1]
The Adelaide Strikers move will give Stokes his first Big Bash appearance since 2015. BBC Sport says he is currently ineligible for the IPL until 2028 after missing its 2025 mega-auction. A Durham contract covering white-ball cricket would also require ECB permission if a franchise competition clashed with his domestic commitments. [1]
