Manchester City beat Liverpool 3-0 at Anfield on 11 October, according to BBC Sport. The defeat extended Liverpool’s Premier League home run without a win to five matches across two seasons: four draws and one loss. Ryan Gravenberch was sent off in the 62nd minute. [1]
Andoni Iraola told Match of the Day that his players had been “very good” for the first 60 minutes, but that City were better after the red card. Former Liverpool defender Stephen Warnock offered a broader criticism on BBC Radio 5 Live, calling Liverpool “an easy touch at the moment” and saying they needed to become harder to play against. [1]
In September, former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes discussed the atmosphere at Anfield on The Good, the Bad and the Football podcast. In his view, the Anfield crowd felt less influential than during Jürgen Klopp’s tenure, while visiting teams appeared more comfortable on the ball. [1]
As longer-term context, Liverpool have won four of their 13 Premier League matches at Anfield since the start of 2026. The current season’s league home run covers only three games, and they have won at Anfield in both the Champions League and Carabao Cup. The winless sequence applies only to Premier League home matches, not all competitions. [1]
