Nieuws.nl reports that the producer plans a seven-month Broadway run for Dirty Dancing: The Musical beginning in February 2027. Lonny Price is named as director, with Annalese Starzec and Blake Zelesnikar due to make their Broadway debuts as Frances ‘Baby’ Houseman and Johnny Castle. [1]
The show uses Eleanor Bergstein’s stage script and songs from the 1987 film. Like the film, it is set in the summer of 1963 and follows Baby’s relationship with dance instructor Johnny. [1]
The musical was first staged in Australia in 2004 and later played in London’s West End and at the Beatrix Theater in Utrecht. [1]
