Steven Spielberg is returning as executive producer of the next Transformers film and will oversee the franchise’s creative direction alongside longtime producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura, according to Paramount as reported by TheWrap. Michael Bay is in early talks to direct, but no deal has been announced. [1]
Spielberg and Bay first worked together on the 2007 Transformers film. TheWrap says Spielberg played a substantial creative role in that film and its 2009 sequel before stepping back from later instalments. Bay last directed a film in the series in 2017. [1]
