The Dutch singer says *Vallen & opstaan* will offer a less polished account of success, including difficulties at home.
Frans Duijts says his biography, *Vallen & opstaan*, aims to show the difficult side of success, particularly to young people he believes see an overly glossy version of it on social media. In an ANP interview reported by Nieuws.nl on 6 October, the 47-year-old Dutch singer said posts featuring expensive cars and seemingly limitless opportunities leave out how hard it can be to succeed. [1]
Nieuws.nl reports that the book addresses Duijts’s excessive alcohol use and relationship problems, and includes the perspective of his wife, Marloes. Duijts said he found it confronting to read that she had experienced some periods differently from him. [1]
He also recounts a time when his family struggled financially after he says he overstretched himself buying property. His children, aged 19, 20 and 21, learnt about those difficulties through the book, according to Duijts. [1]
After 25 years in the profession, Duijts said age has changed how he looks back on his life and career. He described the book as a legacy that could show people more of the person behind his public image. [1]
