Gareth Ritter, 44, changed his plea to guilty at Merthyr Tydfil Crown Court three days into his trial. He was giving evidence in his defence when his barrister asked for the sexual assault charge to be put to him again. [1] [2]
The assault took place in 2015, when the girl was 17, ITV News Wales reported. Ritter appeared in Channel 4’s documentary series *Educating Cardiff*. He had previously pleaded guilty to offences involving the possession and distribution of indecent images of the same complainant, who cannot be named for legal reasons. [1] [2]
Judge Dyfed Llion Thomas adjourned the case for pre-sentence reports and told Ritter that a custodial sentence was an option. Ritter was released on conditional bail ahead of sentencing scheduled for 4 November. [2]
