The sports arbitration court has heard both sides in Senegal’s challenge to Morocco being named Africa Cup winner despite Senegal’s 1–0 victory on the pitch.

Senegal’s challenge to Morocco being named winner of the Africa Cup of Nations final was heard by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) on Thursday, 8 October, according to ANP/RTR. CAS director-general Matthieu Reeb told reporters he expected a decision in a few days, rather than on Thursday or Friday. That is an expectation, not a fixed deadline. [1]
Reeb said the facts were clear and that discussions would centre on procedural and legal questions. He said CAS aimed to issue a reasoned decision as soon as possible after the hearing.
Senegal finished 1–0 ahead on the pitch in the final in Rabat on 18 January, with Pape Gueye scoring in extra time. The Confederation of African Football (CAF) declared Morocco the winner on 17 March, ANP/RTR reported, and Senegal’s football association took the dispute to CAS. [1]
