Sunshine hours in the Netherlands reached 1,825 by late September, one hour above the usual full-year total of 1,824 cited by weather service Weeronline. The figures were reported by ANP in a dispatch published by Nieuws.nl on 29 September. [1]
March, April and July were especially sunny, each recording up to 40% more sunshine than average, the dispatch said. Of the completed months through August, February was the only one that was not sunnier than usual. September was also expected to finish above average. [1]
If the sunny pattern continues through the final three months, 2026 could finish among the five sunniest years, the dispatch said. It identified 2022 as the sunniest year on record, with 2,233 hours. [1]
