Carlos Alcaraz has reached the Paris Masters quarter-finals after Matteo Berrettini withdrew from their last-16 match with an arm injury, according to the ANP report carried by Nieuws.nl.
Alcaraz had beaten American Alex Michelsen in the second round to set up the meeting with Berrettini. The Spaniard had a first-round bye, so his progress to the last eight came without playing the Italian.
Alcaraz, ranked third in the world at the time of the report, was due to face either France’s Arthur Fils or American Taylor Fritz in the quarter-finals on Friday. Alexander Zverev was listed as world No 1, ahead of Jannik Sinner.
