Police have arrested two men on suspicion of involvement in a late-July burglary at a fire station in Moordrecht, in the Dutch province of South Holland. A powerful tool used to open doors was stolen during the break-in. [1]
The suspects, a 31-year-old man from Gouda and a 39-year-old man from Breukelen, were detained at their homes, ANP reported in an article published by Nieuws.nl. A police spokesperson said they were due to appear before an investigating judge on Friday, 25 September 2026. [1]
The stolen tool, known as a spreader, will be returned to the fire service as soon as possible, police said. [1]
ANP reported more than 85 fire-station burglaries so far in 2026, saying thieves often take equipment that can be used in further break-ins. [1]
