Munich has been chosen to represent Germany in a bid for the 2036, 2040 or 2044 Olympic Games.

Germany’s Olympic committee (DOSB) selected Munich’s bid at an extraordinary meeting in Baden-Baden on Saturday, ANP reported. German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier announced the decision live on television. Munich was chosen ahead of Köln-Rhein-Ruhr, the only other contender after Berlin withdrew. [1]
The host of the 2036 Games is due to be chosen in 2029, ANP reported. Germany’s decision allows Munich to pursue the Games; it does not award the city hosting rights. [1]
