Prices of existing homes in the Netherlands were 2.9% higher in September than a year earlier, down from annual growth of 3.3% in August, Statistics Netherlands (CBS) and the Dutch land registry said. The figures show that the pace of annual price growth has slowed almost continuously since November 2024.
Prices also slipped 0.4% between August and September. Even so, the price index stood 17.3% above its previous peak in July 2022. The index adjusts for differences in the quality of homes sold, unlike the average sale price.
The land registry recorded 20,383 transactions in September, 7.1% fewer than a year earlier. Across the first nine months of 2026, however, 176,411 homes were sold, nearly 3% more than in the same period last year. The average sale price in September was €504,658; this figure is not adjusted for differences between homes.
The latest national figures follow a third quarter in which prices rose 3.4% year on year, with the strongest increases in Fryslân and Drenthe, where they were up 5.7%.
