Dewsbury-Hall answers England omission with goal in Everton win

Everton midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall responded to being left out of England’s latest squad with a goal in a 3-1 comeback win over Coventry City, as his side climbed to fifth in the Premier League.

The 28-year-old said he was disappointed to miss out on Thomas Tuchel’s squad for this month’s Nations League fixtures, but proud of how he had reacted. “All I can keep doing is putting in good performances and hopefully one day I get the nod,” he told Sky Sports. “I’m never going to give up.”

Dewsbury-Hall’s powerful strike helped seal Everton’s win after Thierno Barry scored twice in five minutes early in the second half. Barry’s goals took his season tally to 10 across all competitions.

Tuchel said Dewsbury-Hall had been “very close” to selection and had enjoyed “a very good season” so far. The midfielder has scored 11 Premier League goals for Everton since the start of last season and provided seven assists.

David Moyes also equalled Harry Catterick’s club record of 592 games as Everton manager. Catterick managed the club from 1961 to 1973.
