Bayern Munich assistant manager Aaron Danks says Vincent Kompany is making good progress towards a full recovery after being diagnosed with meningitis, but no date has been set for his return to the touchline.
Kompany, 40, collapsed while watching a training session about two weeks ago and was taken to hospital. He is now recovering at home, with Danks covering his duties.
Danks said he had spoken with Kompany several times in recent days and that the Bayern manager sounded positive. The upcoming international break would give the club time to assess when he is ready to rejoin the team, Danks said, adding that everyone hoped to have him back as soon as possible.
Bayern are preparing to play Mainz away in the Bundesliga. Kompany was previously taken to hospital after collapsing while watching the club’s second team train.
