The granite feature will stay on King Street after the infrastructure minister dropped its proposed relocation from the Broad Street scheme.

Jersey’s infrastructure minister, Jonathan Renouf, has withdrawn a proposal to move the granite apple crusher from King Street to Howard Davis Park in St Saviour. He said officers had been instructed to redesign the Broad Street scheme so the feature stays where it is. [1]
The move was proposed as part of a £2.5m project to resurface and revamp nearby Broad Street. Renouf said public opposition and the views of the Connétable of St Helier had prompted him to drop the relocation. His decision concerns that part of the plan, not the wider project. [1]
The apple crusher was installed in 1978 to commemorate Jersey’s cider-making heritage. Renouf said the original design would have created more opportunities for outdoor seating and tree planting, and acknowledged that some supporters of it would be disappointed by the change. [1]
