The Bevrijdingspop festival in Haarlem will go ahead in 2027 after North Holland province and the city each agreed to provide an extra €79,500. The annual 5 May event, held in De Haarlemmerhout park, will be smaller than usual, its board says.
The festival’s organisers requested the additional funding after recording an unexpected €280,000 loss in 2026, which depleted the foundation’s reserves. They have cut next year’s costs by more than €150,000, but said a €139,000 shortfall would remain without further support.
The province and city say they want the pop festival to continue and remain free to attend. The board says a study will be carried out next year into a more sustainable form for the event.
