BBC Scotland reports that Paul Ferris, a Glasgow gangland figure who later became an author, has died aged 62. It says he is believed to have died on Tuesday night [1].
Ferris was acquitted in 1992 of murdering Arthur Thompson Jnr and of all other charges at that trial. No one has been convicted of Thompson Jnr’s killing, the BBC says [1].
In a separate case, Ferris was jailed for seven years in 1998 for gun-running. He left prison in 2002 [1].
Ferris’s first book, The Ferris Conspiracy, was published in 2001. It was adapted into the 2013 film The Wee Man, in which Martin Compston played him [1].
