Dutch inflation rose slightly in September, preliminary figures show, as annual price increases for energy and services picked up.

Inflation in the Netherlands edged up in September: consumer prices were 3.4% higher than a year earlier, compared with 3.3% in August. The figure is an initial estimate from Statistics Netherlands (CBS), calculated using incomplete data. [1]
Energy prices, including motor fuels, were 13.9% higher than a year earlier, up from an 11.6% annual increase in August. Services prices rose 3.9% year on year, compared with 3.7% in August. Food, drink and tobacco prices fell 1.2% year on year, following a 0.5% fall in August. [1]
Prices rose 0.1% between August and September, a separate measure from the annual inflation rate. On the EU-harmonised index, Dutch inflation was 3.0% in September, up from 2.8% in August. [1]
CBS is due to publish its regular September inflation figures, including price changes across all consumer price index categories, on 13 October. [1]
