AEX edges higher as Randstad jumps 11.8% after quarterly results

Amsterdam’s AEX index edged up 0.1% to 1,134.23 points in early trading on Wednesday, with chipmakers among the risers after losses the previous day. Recruitment group Randstad jumped 11.8% in the MidKap after reporting a third consecutive quarter of growth. [1]
Randstad chief executive Sander van ’t Noordende said the company was growing again in three-quarters of the markets where it operates, including the United States, Italy, Spain and the Netherlands. The group had faced weak market conditions for an extended period, but its fortunes turned this year, according to the report. [1]
Chip companies Besi, ASML and ASMI rose by as much as 2.2%. Tech investor Prosus was the AEX’s biggest faller, down 3%. AkzoNobel and fitness chain Basic-Fit also reported quarterly results. [1]
