Arsenal fear Bukayo Saka could miss at least six weeks with a quadriceps injury, a spell that could rule him out of key club fixtures and England’s upcoming Nations League matches. The club is awaiting further scans before giving a definitive assessment.
Saka was forced off during Wednesday’s 2-2 Champions League draw with Bayern Munich. Arsenal’s early examinations suggest he will be out for a minimum of six weeks, and potentially longer, but fluid around the muscle has made the injury difficult to assess, BBC Sport reports.
“He’s got another MRI as there was quite a lot of fluid in the area so it was quite difficult to understand the extent of the injury,” manager Mikel Arteta said. “We will know more tomorrow.”
Saka will miss Saturday’s Premier League match against Everton. Arsenal are second, three points behind Manchester City, and will hope to close the gap at home.
The injury adds to a recent run of fitness problems for the 25-year-old. An Achilles issue affected his playing time last season, while a hamstring injury requiring surgery kept him out for 101 days during the 2024-25 campaign. He also had hip and hamstring problems last season.
Arsenal’s available alternatives include Noni Madueke, Eberechi Eze and 16-year-old Max Dowman. Summer signing Christos Tzolis is also injured. Saka has scored four goals in 11 appearances this season, according to BBC Sport.
Arteta said Saka’s availability had “certainly been different in the last year or so”. The extent of the latest injury—and how long Arsenal will be without him—remains unclear pending the further assessment.
