Burnham says local people should be heard first, while Heathrow warns that its proposed third runway could open four years later than planned.

British prime minister Andy Burnham declined to endorse a third runway at Heathrow on Sunday, 27 September. He told the BBC, in remarks reported by Nieuws.nl, that the question was primarily a matter for London and that local people should be heard first. [1]
Burnham did not reject the project. His predecessor, Keir Starmer, expressed support for the expansion plans last year. [1]
Heathrow said on Saturday that the runway’s opening could slip by four years to 2039. A lengthy permitting and approval process remains before construction can begin. [1]
