A tanker has broken free from its anchor in rough seas north of Schiermonnikoog, leaving five people injured on board, the Dutch lifeboat service KNRM says. Rescue teams from Schiermonnikoog and Ameland, a coastguard helicopter and two German rescue boats have been sent to the area.
The ship was drifting in waves more than 4.5 metres high, according to ANP, which cited a KNRM spokesperson. The report did not give details of the injuries or say what had caused the tanker to break free.
