Tom Cruise will receive the American Film Institute’s AFI Life Achievement Award, with the ceremony scheduled for 24 April 2027 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood. The institute is recognising the 64-year-old actor for his career and contribution to the film industry, Nieuws.nl reports, citing Variety.
Kathleen Kennedy, chair of the institute’s board of trustees, called Cruise a global icon in a statement. She praised his work as an actor and producer and said she admired his belief in cinema’s ability to bring people together.
Cruise follows Eddie Murphy, who received the award last year. Previous recipients include Francis Ford Coppola, Diane Keaton, George Clooney, Denzel Washington and Julie Andrews.
