JoeyAK’s Friday night concert has been cancelled after Rotterdam’s mayor ordered Villa Thalia to close for 24 hours over public-order concerns.

Mayor Carola Schouten ordered the 24-hour closure of Villa Thalia, where JoeyAK was due to perform at 11pm on Friday, 2 October, Nieuws.nl reported. The municipality cited what it described as a concrete threat linked to the concert. [1]
Earlier in the week, Schouten had imposed an area ban on the rapper to prevent the performance. An interim relief judge suspended that ban on Friday morning, finding it was not the right measure in this case. The judge’s decision concerned the area ban, not the later closure of the venue. [1]
The municipality said its public-order and safety concerns remained after the judge’s decision. In the mayor’s assessment, other measures would not sufficiently address the threat it described, so a temporary closure was necessary. [1]
