Amber Gersjes was eliminated from the judo world championships in Baku on Sunday after losing by ippon to Japan’s Wakana Koga in the women’s under-48kg last 16, ANP reported. [1]
The 29-year-old Dutch judoka had a first-round bye and beat Tunisia’s Oumaima Bedioui in round two. The defeat to Koga came in her second bout of the tournament. [1]
Gersjes was the only member of the 11-strong Dutch squad competing on Sunday. The tournament is scheduled to run until Sunday 11 October. [1]
